Subject: ResourceSpace Upgrade + Random Notes
The software I use to run this website (ResourceSpace) had a new version come out recently with some cool new features. I attempted to upgrade the program today, but unfortunately ran into an issue. This server is still running MySQL 4.1, and I need to upgrade to 5.1 to use the new version. Because I am on a shared server (with no control over the version of MySQL installed) I will need to change my services.
The good thing for you is that I have selected a dedicated plan which will mean faster load times, and more resources available for use. I expect the moving of the website will take a few days - one day of planning, one day of doing the actual work, with one to two days for the DNS entries to update across everyone's providers.
Also, today I added a Google Adsense ad to the website, and I am currently working on adding some gog.com materials. I'm doing my best to keep the advertising unobtrusive, and relevant to what it is this site is about. Any money brought in from the ads is going to be used for the server fees, and if anything is left over will be set aside to hire some custom programming and design work.
Finally, over the last few weeks I have added some really cool looking games to the website. If you are just browsing the themes (which sort by popularity by default) or searching for specific titles your missing out! Occasionally I would recommend you go to the "Recent" or "View New Material" pages to watch content as it gets added to the site. There are a lot of great DOS games out there that fell through the cracks and never went mainstream to pick up.
